TRIBUTE GIFTS
When you honor someone with a tribute or remember a lost loved
one with a memorial, a card acknowledging your gift will be sent
on your behalf to the person of your choice. You will also receive
a thank you letter/gift acknowledgment from Make-A-Wish to use
for tax purposes.
Here
are some ways that you can make memorial and honorary gifts:

Honor Your Wedding
Guests
As a special gift to your family and friends who attend your marriage
ceremony, present them with a customized scroll with ribbon to
match your colors stating that you have made a donation in their
honor. •
Holiday Gifts
In lieu of your traditional holiday gifts, a donation made in
honor of your business associates, friends, and family can help
make a wish come true. Make-A-Wish will send a letter to those
you designate, indicating that a donation has been made in their
honor.

Gifts
For the person that has everything, provide them with the knowledge
that they are helping to make dreams a reality for local children.

Send-A-Wish
Help make dreams come true and Send-A-Wish to your friends, family,
and colleagues with this new personalized program. A letter acknowledging
the special occasion, including the details of a child's wish
come true, will be cherished as you Share the Power of a Wish
with recipients. With your $100 donation (per 5 letters) you will
add to your friend's joy while bringing joy to a child's life.

Funeral Arrangements
A sad time in the life of a family can become an opportunity to
make the magic of a wish come true. Hope, strength, and joy can
be granted in the midst of sorrow and loss. By designating the
Make-A-Wish Foundation as the recipient of donation in lieu of
flowers you can help make the wish of a child come true. It is
a beautiful way to memorialize and honor the one you have lost
by adding to their legacy.
MONTHLY PARTNERS
Join our Monthly Make-A-Wish Partners and have your contributions
electronically transferred from your credit card each month to
the Make-A-Wish of East Tennessee. You will save us paperwork
and reduce overhead while changing the lives of some very special
children.
A YEAR OF WISHES Make your donation in honor of someone special. Each
month honorees will receive a letter sharing wish stories that
you helped grant in their name.
ADOPT-A-WISH
More than 120 children will come to us to have their wishes
granted this year. A donation in the amount of $6000 will allow
an individual, group, or corporation the chance to sponsor an
entire wish and change the life of one special child. We will
provide the donor the opportunity to be actively involved in
the granting of the wish and experience the magic of a wish
come true! Turn a dream into reality for one special child creating
memories for an entire family.

Gifts
of Stocks or Bonds
A gift of appreciated stock (stock you have held for more than
one year) is a tax-wise way to give a gift to Make-A-Wish. For
full tax benefits to you, the stock may be transferred from your
broker to ours or you can send unsigned stock certificates by
certified mail to our Development Director.

Charitable
Remainder Trusts
This type of gift of appreciated assets can generate more spendable
lifetime income for you with positive tax benefits.

Bequests
Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee can be named a beneficiary
in your will in a number of simple ways - providing generous federal
estate tax savings to you. An outright gift of funds or property
can be specified or Make-A-Wish can be named as a remainder beneficiary
after your family has been provided for. In many cases Make-A-Wish
can be added into your existing will through a simple amendment
so as to avoid having to have your entire will redrafted.

PLANNED GIVING
Give a gift to last many lifetimes, a gift to stand as a legacy
of your family, yourself and your commitment to improving the
lives of others. The endowment is a vehicle by which cash and
personal and real property may be donated for the purpose of
creating income for generations to come, to offset the effects
of inflation, and to supplement the traditional income sources

IN THE WORKPLACE/CFC
Want to turn your workplace into a “Wish-Place?” It’s
easy. With workplace-giving campaigns, supporting the Make-A-Wish
Foundation of East Tennessee kids can become part of your work
routine. Just check with your human resources department to see
how your employee-giving campaigns are run. Pledge periods usually
run from September to November, with contributions beginning in
January through payroll deductions and one-time contributions.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee participates in
many local Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) functions throughout
our
36 counties. The CFC is an opportunity for federal employees
to contribute charitable donations through their workplace.
We currently
participate in the Chattanooga Area campaign, the Smokey Mountain
Region campaign, and Johnson City - Mountain Home CFC. We
will have a display at many of the fairs to be held this
season.

and how your donation through the CFC can help grant many wishes.

FREQUENT FLYER MILES
Most wishes involve travel, either to Disney World, to a reunion
with grandparents in a faraway city, or to some other dreamed-about
destination. Transferring your frequent flyer mileage to Make-A-Wish
will help defray the cost of more than 500 airline tickets we
need to make wishes come true each year.
Thanks
to the incredible generosity of our airline partners and their
members, the Make-A-Wish Foundation was able to grant more than
6,500 travel wishes last year. Frequent flyers donated hundreds
of millions of miles to fulfill these travel wishes. We estimate
that more than 800 million frequent flyer miles will be needed
to grant every child's travel wish this year. Please consider
donating your airline miles. Just print and fill out our simple
form and mail or fax it to Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee.

Tax
Deductibility
The IRS recognizes frequent traveler points as a gift or an award
from the corporation to the individual,
and therefore miles donated to charity are not tax deductible.
MOBILE PHONES
By donating your used mobile phone to the Make-A-Wish Foundation
of East Tennessee, you help us grant wishes to children in our
area. Donating your phone also helps the environment by keeping
them out of our landfills. Your donated phone will be recycled
and reused in the developing world. A portion of the proceeds
will go Make-A-Wish.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Join the dozens of companies who organize special fundraising
events for Make-A-Wish. From parties to bake sales, sporting
events to dress-down days, each special event helps promote
a spirit of team building among employees, while helping some
very deserving children.
GIFT BAGS
Each wish child and their siblings are given a bag of goodies
at their wish interview; we can always use more toys and games
or gift certificates to toy stores.
